At the end of last year, all of us at Hippo Motor Group took part in a Christmas Jumper Day to help raise fund for the charity Joseph’s Goal. Joseph’s Goal is a local charity set up to support Joseph Kendrick; a 5-year-old boy suffering with NKH (Non-Ketotic Hyperglycinemia).
The charity was also set up to help support his family, and to raise awareness for the genetic disorder. NKH is a genetic disorder which affects 1 in 60,000 newborn children, and its rarity means little research has been done for it. This is why raising funds and awareness is crucial. Money raised for the charity goes toward helping to find better treatments, and one day an effective cure. Joe’s family and the charity are also supporting Dr Johan Van Hove, who is a world leader in the research of NKH.
Joe’s parents, Paul and Emma, said that “Joe has shown us he wants to fight all the way, and we are determined to fight on his behalf; to help create awareness of this devastating condition, find better treatments for him and other children with NKH, and hopefully find a cure”.
So in support of Joe and his family, the entire office got together to hold a Christmas Jumper Day and raise money. We raised £73 in total, which will go towards supporting Joe and the charity.
