From the Côte d’Azur to the forests of Pickering, Team Hippo continue their rally journey this weekend at the MEM Malton Forest Rally.
Having debuted our new rally car last month, the Malton stages offer something unique for our Ford Fiesta R5 – Mark II to contend with as it will be the first gravel event for our car to tackle.
Postponed last year due to the pandemic, anticipation is at an all-time high for the Malton Forest Rally and Team Hippo have been seeded as car five.
In 2019, Team Hippo were in third place overall until an unfortunate run-in with a banking ripped our previous rally car’s rear-differential out. Needless to say we’re hoping Tom Preston, Hippo Motor Group director and lead driver, and co-driver Carl Williamson can get a better result this time around.
The Malton Forest Rally, hosted by Malton Motor Club along with Clitheroe and District Motor Club, will take place across six stages totalling nearly 45 miles. This will include Gale Rigg, Cropton and Langdale forest complexes, with roughly 100 liaison miles and one night stage thrown into the mix.
Spectators wishing to attend the event can watch Stage 2 and Stage 5 at Cropton. Entry to Forest is via postcode; YO18 8EP or by using What3Words; flamenco.certified.dentistry
