In celebration of the 8 years since Hippo Motor Group was created, we decided to hold a charity event in our state-of-the-art showroom. We have been based in Trident Park for 2 years now, and are currently in the process of building another 11,000 sq. ft building just down the road. So it seemed like now would be a fantastic time to share with everyone the success we’ve had as a company, and invited friends, family, colleagues and companies to enjoy an evening of Hippo Humour.
Over the years Hippo have been part of helping many charities, and we thought that this event would be a great opportunity to help raise some money for a truly notable cause; Pendleside Hospice.
After much deliberation, we thought a comedy theme would be great fun for everyone, and so Hippo Humour was created. For the evening’s entertainment, we arranged a street magician, well-known comedians, live music, and freshly cooked food. On the night, our showroom was completely transformed into a glamorous and glitzy comedy club; the perfect setting for an evening of Hippo Humour.
The evening turned out to be a huge success, with over 220 people from several Northwest businesses joining us. We kicked off the night with drinks on arrival and a DJ set, followed by live music from Paul Dobie, and some magic tricks to wow the crowd from Ian’s Close Up Magic. The food for the evening was catered by With a Twist, who prepared canapés, noodle boxes and a selection of curries. Pierre Novellie of Edinburgh Comedy Fest then took to the stage, who was then followed by a stunning performance from Justin Moorhouse of Phoenix Nights.
All-in all, everyone had a fantastic evening, and many people helped donate to Pendleside Hospice. With a late donation of £500 from Accrol Papers, and a generous £5000 from our Director Tom, we managed to raise a grand total of £10,256. We’d like to say a huge thank you to everyone who helped make the night possible, and to everyone who attended our wonderful charity event.
