Identify and source used vehicles from auctions, trade partners, private sellers, and other channels to ensure a diverse and profitable stock mix.
Monitor market trends, pricing, and demand in the UK used car sector to make informed purchasing decisions.
Negotiate competitive prices with sellers to secure stock within budget while maintaining quality standards.
Work closely with the sales and stock teams to ensure inventory aligns with customer preferences and sales targets.
Build and maintain strong relationships with auction houses, dealerships, and other suppliers to secure consistent stock flow.
Provide regular updates to the head of buying on stock levels, acquisition costs, and market insights.
Gather and interpret data from internal sales records, auction platforms, and external market sources to assess used car values, demand, and trends.
Track UK used car market dynamics, including pricing fluctuations, consumer preferences, and competitor activity.
Provide actionable recommendations to the purchasing and sales teams on which vehicle makes, models, and specifications to prioritise based on data insights.
Develop and refine pricing models to ensure competitive yet profitable pricing for used car stock
Create regular reports and dashboards on stock turnover, profit margins, and sales performance for senior management.
Predict future market shifts and depreciation trends to inform long-term stock planning.
Work closely with buyers, sales teams, and marketing to align data insights with business goals.
Maintain and improve data tools or systems used for tracking and analysing used car metrics

Essential:

Proven experience as a Data Analyst, preferably in the automotive or retail sector.
Proficiency in data analysis tools such as Excel (advanced), SQL, Python, or R.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex datasets and present findings clearly.
Knowledge of the UK used car market, including factors affecting vehicle valuation and demand.
Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
Familiarity with automotive industry data sources (e.g., Auto Trader, CAP HPI, DVLA).

Desirable:

Experience with data visualisation tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).
Background in statistics or econometrics.
Understanding of used car sales cycles and stock management processes.
